The past two and a half years have been a time of profound disruption – Covid, racial injustice, economic disparities, and global instability – which has offered us a window into the future. Change has been accelerated, adaptations we never felt ready to explore were made almost overnight, companies embraced remote work and flexibility, and the resulting boundaries between work and personal life have become more fluid.
While these disruptions have driven fundamental change in the ways we work, burnout remains on the rise and the transition to remote and hybrid work across multiple time zones leaves many with a sense they need to be ‘always on’, and suddenly people are asking much more from their organization.
While every organization has its own unique challenges demanding customized approaches, all organizations have been mightily challenged and those that have listened, have learned we are at a pivotal point and our essential opportunity is revitalizing/rethinking how we bring humanity into the workplace. It is not about the snacks in the kitchens or ping pong tables; instead, it’s all about finding new ways to work together and come together.
We think about this as Humanizing Work, equipping people and organizations to connect, interact, and support beyond the “work-specific” role. This means that organizations create space for reflection, leaders are able to have conversations relating to the whole person, and individuals have a sense of purpose at work.
It has always been important. But the past couple years have given us new perspective. People are bringing more of themselves to work, and prefer a workplace where they can talk about their anxieties and concerns – where they feel seen and heard. Humanizing work to fit the complex world we live in today is our challenge and our opportunity.
That’s our focus in this webinar – exploring challenges, innovations and experiments underway from the field.

Julie Maloney, M.A.
Executive Coach and Leadership Consultant, Maloney Leadership Group
Human beings navigate the external world based on internal maps — our unique ways of seeing, interpreting and responding to the events, people and situations around us. These maps are made up of the data we choose to pay attention to, the assumptions we make about what things mean, and the beliefs we form and hold about what is “true” in the world. These maps are both necessary and they require updating. Julie’s purpose is to leverage the power of question to help leaders shift their point of view, in order to create more effective mental maps for our hyper-intense, dynamic modern world. Julie has held talent leadership positions in Fortune 100 global companies, Big Four consulting & financial services firms, and PE-held technology growth companies. She is a professional executive coach who specializes in executive leadership transitions, with more than 25 years experience working across all levels of leadership. She is also a certified yoga instructor and deeply passionate about using mindful movement to reduce stress and increase our adaptability to change, at work and in life.
